Weston is a master-planned city on the western edge of Broward County, bordered by the Everglades conservation areas. It was developed largely by Arvida and incorporated in 1996, and its neighborhoods were laid out together with lakes, parks, trails and a town center, which gives the whole city a consistent look and feel.
Most Weston homes sit in communities with homeowners associations, many of them gated. I-75 and the Sawgrass Expressway meet at the city's northern edge, connecting Weston to Fort Lauderdale, Palm Beach County and Miami-Dade.

Before you buy
Most Weston homes carry two layers of fees: the community association and a master association. Ask for both budgets and rule books, including the architectural rules that cover paint colors, roofs, fences and landscaping. Get insurance quotes during inspections and check the flood zone for the specific address, since many homes sit on or near lakes.
